Initial Plans

INITIAL PLANS

Title: Celebrity role models - We chose this title because its attention grabbing and sums up what the documentary is about. Our slogan for our documentary is 'Who do you want to be like?' Posing a question to the audience helps to engage them in the documentary and will hopefully make them want to watch it. Many people also like to watch programmes on celebrities and like to hear about the lifestyle of them.

Topic of programme:Celebrity Role models. The programme will be a exploratory/ expository documentary and will be informal in style. It will include Interviews from different perspectives - such as a young people who have role models, A mother who shares her opinion on good and bad role models and a psychologist who explains 'why people have role models' B-roll footage will include our own footage such as video montages of a person showing us their lifestyle and what they do to 'keep up to date' with their role model. It will include short cutaway videos of people who read magazines about their role model. instead of wasting our 30 second limit of archive footage we will record somebody else looking at the at it on different forms of media, such as a television, Ipod, Ipad, Computer etc. Archive footage (30 secs) will include YouTube videos, for example snippets of music videos from a role model a young person we interview has. We will also use YouTube to download some songs using add on's from Mozilla Firefox to put into our documentary as our soundbed. We will record our voice over most likely using a male voice as we want to create a expository documentary and a male voice is usually used.

Target audience: Age range 15 – 20 year olds, but we will possibly expand this age range for both genders depending on the responses our interviewees give and the ages of the people we interview, if we interview people who are older, people that age will be more likely to watch as they may be able to relate. Our documentary will also appeal to anyone with an interest in societal issues or if someones role model is being talked about.

Channel and scheduling:
Channel 4, at 7PM (prime time for television). We chose to broadcast our documentary on Channel 4  because it directly appeals to our target audience. Channel 4 shows cutting edge documentaries and programmes that appeal to the younger generation
such as the 'inbetweeners'. the documentary will be shown at 9pm, as we believe this is prime time television for the target audience.
